I have been noticing the last week or so that my hummingbird feeder's nectar has been mysteriously vanishing a little each day. I think our little hummers are here but we just haven't caught a glimpse of them yet. You can track their progress and their sightings on this website:
http://www.hummingbirds.net/map.html So get out those feeders and fill them with nectar...hummingbirds are here!

Did you know you can make your own nectar? Just follow this really easy recipe:
Homeade Hummingbird Nectar
1. Boil 4 parts water
2. Mix 1 part ordinary white granulated sugar
3. Stir and allow to cool
4. When the nectar is room temperature, fill your clean hummingbird feeder

I still haven't seen any! I've been watching the plants that they loved last year, but haven't seen any visiting yet. Several of the new ones I bought are also said to attract hummers and butterflies, can't wait for them to bloom!
